Olivier Pelletier is a teacher, translator, writer with bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Philosophy, a Certificate in Teaching English, a master’s degree in English Literature and currently studying pedagogy at the doctoral level. He is the Chair of the language department at CEGEP Édouard Montpetit where he has taught English, Literature, and Creative writing for almost 20 years. As a teacher, he has launched many projects that promote student success.  He has organized student trips to the Jack Kerouac festival in Lowell Massachussetts and to Ecuador to engage students with course materials and to develop learner  autonomy and motivation. Constantly looking for new ways to use and promote active and inclusive learning, in 2022 and 2023 he participated in the international cooperation project “Education for Employment (EPE)” in Arequipa Peru, for which he presented workshops, conferences, webinars, and videos on high impact teaching practices. In 2025, Olivier Pelletier collaborated with language teachers at Amawtay Wasi University in Ecuador by developing an active pedagogy training funded by the Quebec Cegep Federation. Motivated by these experiences, Olivier Pelletier is currently researching the ways students and teachers collaborate to learn. In a life-long effort to combine engagement and change in education, Olivier Pelletier is currently studying advanced pedagogy at Sherbrooke University while continuing to work as a teacher, department chair, and project coordinator at CEGEP Edouard Montpetit. He is involved in many initiatives aimed at improving higher education such as his participation on the Studies Commission, as the provincial coordinator for the language department, and as a member of union and Cegep committees.
